Enjoy the rich, creamy taste of burrata cheese with the bright flavors of fresh basil and heirloom tomatoes. This gourmet grilled cheese sandwich is a whole new level of comfort food.
Ingredients:
- 2 slices of artisanal sourdough bread
- 2-3 heirloom tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 4-6 ounces of burrata cheese
- 2-3 fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for spreading
Instructions:
Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat
Drizzle olive oil on one side of each bread slice
Place one bread slice, olive oil side down, onto the heated surface
Quickly layer burrata cheese, heirloom tomato slices, and fresh basil leaves onto the bread slice
Season with a pinch of salt and pepper
Top with the second bread slice, olive oil side up
Cook until the bottom bread slice turns golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes
Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until it's golden brown and the cheese is melted, another 3-4 minutes
Remove from heat and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half
